I just found a brick which I believe is from South Webster, OH. The imprint says ” SO WEBSTER.” There isn’t much info out there about brick manufacturing since the late 1800’s – early 1900’s. Is it possible that my brick is that old? It was behind my “garage,” and my house was built in 1871.

Hi, I have a bunch (84) of really cool bricks that I was told were from the Nelsonville Brick Co. I’m trying to unload them. I will post my Craigslist (Columbus, OH) ad in this comment. If anyone is interested and is around Columbus, I’ll gladly probably sell them for whatever price you want, just message me through Craigslist. Alternatively, I would be willing to part with them for a trade of some cool “Ohio” bricks or something similar.

I have come across quite a few old pavers that have “South Webster Block” written on them. I am having trouble locating any information on them. I am particularly interested in their approximate age. They were found on my brothers farm that was built in the early 1800s. Can anyone direct me to some information about these?

We have in Minster Ohio about 100 of the old brick pavers with the edge line imprints and double star flower in the middle. All very good shape. I know you need more, but if you took some different designed bricks and interchanged, that could be quite attractive. Picture of these can be found on Star Bricks on Pinterest | Bricks, Ohio and Black Dog
419-771-9339. Apparently they can go for up to $10 each from research.

The best place to pick up Ohio Bricks is the Nelsonville Brick Festival. You can also find them on craig’s list, ebay and etc. Another place, if you want to pay $10 each is Columbus Architectural Salvage. I prefer to forage for mine.

I am not a collector, but when I found these 3 blocks at different sites in Cleveland Hts, OH, I saved them. Now I would like to find a home for them.
There is a Century Block, a Logan Block, and a Cleveland Block (dated 1909).
From reading this blog, much of the pleasure of collecting blocks appears to finding them oneself, but in spite of that special appeal of the hobby, these I am looking to give away. I hope someone is intrerested!

I have a photo of them but don’t see a way to post it here. The writing on them is perfect, but two of them do have small edge or corner chips.

I live in Cleveland Hts, so if there is a collector reasonably close by, you are welcome to make arrangements to come pick them up.

Contact me by email, or call Ewen at: 216-860-4062.

Thanks for sharing. If no one offers, I may be able to send a Cleveland friend to pick up over the holidays.

Finding them in the wild is always great, but a free brick is always a close second.

I am looking for Townsend street pavers from the late 1800’s. These are 10 pound bricks that were used for our street trolley. One side of the brick reads “Townsend Block Z.O,” and the other side has two parallel lines. The dimensions are 8 3/4 inches long, 4 inches wide, 3 3/4 inches high. My driveway is made of 2 layers of these bricks and I need 150 more.
